Escape Rooms and Team Building

Escape Rooms are the newest concept in team building. And it’s being adopted by many team leaders across the world.

Building a functional team is a challenge. It’s not an easy task to hire a group of people, train them, and expect consistent, effective results. It takes an ultimate effort to build every person and group to operate as a functional tool for each required project. Although open communication, trust, a particular skill set, and analytical strengths matter to the success of a team, sometimes there’s a need to develop these things outside of your workplace too. For team building, there have been many social activities and exercises to engage them.

What Is an Escape Room?

Escape Rooms are modeled after online escape games. Employees are kept “locked” in a themed Escape Room… and they have to collect clues and solve a problem to get out in 60 minutes. These games are played through strategic planning and teamwork. Everyone has to think and work together. They have to make an escape plan that may change several times throughout play. Rooms can be themed to suit a variety of circumstance: escape from prison, escape a doomed submarine, or solve a bank heist, etc. Between 4 to 12 people can work as one team. Rules and instructions will be available on screens within the Escape Room. Every one of the players uses their abilities to solve the game at hand. Your employees can combine different approaches and diverse work styles to reach a common goal. They all work together… and then they develop a teammate relationship with each other, which is the ultimate goal. Due to its effectiveness, Escape Rooms have gained huge popularity.

Here’s more of what you can expect from an Escape Game:

  • Escape Room activities require the engagement of all teammates. Players need to adopt the successful strategies throughout the entire course of the game. Everyone will get a chance to use their communication, creative, and critical skills to achieve the target. So, teamwork helps them win the game.
  • Team members learn time management, fast thinking, and quick performance through Escape Rooms. The team will have 1 hour to solve all puzzles to break out of the Escape Room. Every team structures themselves well enough not to waste time, and this activity tests their abilities to perform well in less time.
  • Real work is done without any comfort zone. So, Escape Room activities push employees to their boundaries so they don’t crack under work pressure. Less time and the immediate need for results pushes them to think outside of the box and deliver effective results. These shared experiences bring teammates closer together in a number of ways: trust, companionship, dependency, and acknowledgment of their skill set.
  • Escape Rooms play a vital role in fun among teammates. It’s an opportunity to have fun, improve your problem-solving skills, build creativity, and experiment with dynamic work styles outside of the workplace. These interactive games bring out the real you with much more enthusiasm.
